NEW ARRIVALS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME
Three of our students recently visited a local community centre to help elderly residents (all from families from overseas who have settled in Sheffield) learn how to use new technology better as part of their participation in the New Arrivals Fellowship programme.
The initiative, organised by Lifelong Learning and the Sheffield Local Authority, enabled students to pass on their knowledge about using iPads, mobile phones, how to email, send text messages and even make Facetime video-calls.
Feedback on the day from the local residents was extremely positive and Daina Cummings, Project Coordinator said: “The students’ behaviour and attitude during the activity was excellent. The session went really well and the adults commented on their manners and kind attitude. The students are a credit to the school.”
